Create a card using yellow cardstock paper. Generally half of an 8 ½-by-11-inch piece of paper makes a card that fits inside most card envelopes. Cut a piece of silver cardstock to fit over the front of the card. Sprinkle some silver embossing onto the silver cardstock in small, straight lines. You are simulating the bevelled metal seen in trucks and other industrial applications. Use the embossing gun to heat the powder until it melts.
Ink the tractor stamp and press it onto another sheet of yellow cardstock. Cut the tractor shape out from the paper. Glue the silver embossed paper to the front of the yellow card base. Place foam adhesive squares on the bottom of the truck and press it over the silver paper. The foam squares raise the truck up from the card to give it extra dimension.
Place some birthday stickers around the truck and on the inside of the card. If you wish to add a message to the front of the card, stamp a birthday phrase onto a section of yellow paper, and glue to the front of the card. Stamp an additional birthday saying to the inside of the card. Take the number of the age that the boy is turning and stick it on the truck on the front of the card.
Add details to the truck with markers. You can add headlights, wheels, highlighting and any other details that you want. If you have a picture of the birthday boy, shrink it down so that it is small enough to fit in the cockpit of the truck.
Tips and warnings
- A rectangular paper cutter cuts more precise corners and edges than scissors.
- You can add rocks, dirt or an additional border around the truck with brown paper. Use your imagination to embellish the card.
