How to retrieve call records for a landline phone

Updated March 23, 2017

You may need to retrieve the call details for your landline phone for one reason or another. Maybe you are receiving harassing, threatening phone calls and you need to get a list of generated calls for investigative purposes. Maybe you just want to monitor the types of calls that are coming in. You can retrieve these records but it may cost you.

Contact your phone service provider. Ask for the customer service department that handles phone call records. AT&T has a special department called Annoyance Call Bureau.

Provide the customer service agent with your billing details and your account number. You must be the owner of the account to request these records or the representative for the owner, in which case you must show proof of permission from the owner.

Request call detail records for a specified time period. Your service provider will mail this information to your residence.

Things You'll Need

  • Telephone account number
  • Billing information
