How to Design Your Own Sleepover Invitations
Sleepover Invitations (party invitation image by robert mobley from

Hosting sleepover parties is something girls love to do. Get creative and send out handmade invitations that look like pillowcases for your next overnight party instead of just spreading the word. Pillowcase invitations take minutes to make and require only a few basic craft supplies.

Skill level:

Things you need

  • White felt
  • Scissors
  • Fabric glue
  • Coloured index cards, 3" by 5"
  • Decorative marker(s)

  1. 1

Use sharp scissors to cut white felt into rectangles that measure approximately 6-1/2 inches by 10-1/2 inches.

  2. 2

Place a thin line of fabric glue around two of the long sides and one of the short sides of each cut rectangle.

  3. 3

Fold each large rectangle in half. Press along the edges with your fingers to stick the glue to the felt to create a pillowcase shape.

  4. 4

Write the sleepover party information onto coloured index cards using decorative markers. Include the name of the host, the date of the sleepover, as well as the drop-off and pickup time, anything specific the guests need to bring along and RSVP information. Consider using markers with glitter or neon colours for extra fun.

  5. 5

Cut several index cards in half. Write a greeting for the front of the invitations such as "You Are Invited to a Sleepover Party" or "Please Come to My Sleepover." Glue these greetings to the front of the white felt "pillowcases."

  6. 6

Slide the index cards with the sleepover information inside the pillowcases and then prepare to send the invitations by mail or hand them out to friends.

Tips and warnings

  • Stuff a small amount of cotton fibre inside the "pillowcases" to make them appear fluffier.
