Legos are a whimsical way to decorate a bedroom. The special building blocks are designed to create various items and designs. The typical kit comes with a set amount of the colourful pieces along with platforms which act as a base for the creations. Using Legos to decorate a room opens up almost endless possibilities for those with and without creative or artistic talent.

  1. 1

Measure the total area of the wall or walls you plan to decorate. Measure the height of the wall and multiply it by the width of the wall for square footage.

  2. 2

Purchase or gather Lego bases to cover the selected area. Measure the bases to determine how many are needed.

  3. 3

Drill holes in the corner of each Lego base to fit anchor screws. Place one hole in the centre for a fifth screw.

  4. 4

Cut bases to fit the wall using an electric hand saw with a "no melt," multi-tooth blade. The more teeth the saw has, the smoother it will cut and the less likely breakage or shattering will occur. A "no melt" blade does not get as hot as regular blades, helping to eliminate melting of the plastic.

  5. 5

Screw the bases to the wall using anchor screws. Begin in the upper right hand corner of the selected wall. Use a drill to put the screws through the board and into the wall.

  6. 6

Make patterns using Lego blocks on the base. The Lego blocks will snap in place, remaining on the wall.

  7. 7

Create Lego items to decorate other areas of the room. People, vehicles, animals and other creations are made following the directions included in Lego kits.

  8. 8

Hot glue Lego blocks onto comforters and curtains. Randomly place or create a pattern with the coloured blocks.

Tips and warnings

  • Select large sets of Lego blocks and order extra building bases from the company.
  • If dealing with young children, hot glue the Lego blocks together on the wall and in the decorations. Lego blocks are a choking hazard for small children.
