Updated February 21, 2017

Whether your cell phone broke, you don't own a phone or you simply want to save money, sending text messages from your laptop computer is the perfect option. Not only do you avoid paying the text message charges when sending a message from your laptop, you can also get in touch with someone in case of an emergency. Note that you can send a text message from your computer any time you have access to the Internet.

Open the web browser on your laptop. Type in "www.smseverywhere.com" and press "Enter." (See References for link.)

Click on the "Send SMS" link at the top of the website.

Type in the phone number in the "Send To" box.

Type your message in the box directly under the phone number. The message must be less than 150 characters.

Click on "Send Now" when your message is complete.
