If you have a Panasonic Viera VT, GT, UT, ST, XT or S3 model television (reference 3), you can use your iPhone as a remote control. You’ll need to install the official iPhone app in order to achieve this and ensure that your TV is connected to your wireless router, but once set up, your iPhone will approximate the functions of the supplied remote.

Tap the App Store icon on your iPhone homescreen. This opens the App Store app, from which you can download thousands of apps.
Tap the “Search” icon on the bottom right of the app interface.
Tap on the search box at the top. You may need to tap the X to clear the search box if it contains a previous search. Tapping again brings up the iPhone keypad.
Type “Viera remote” into the search box. This brings up five options. The first app returned in the search is the the Viera remote for iPhone app. If you swipe to the left, you’ll see the second iteration of this app, named “Viera remote2.” You can download either, as they are both free and are both developed by Panasonic Corporation Entertainment. The second version has more advanced functionality.
Tap “Free” on the version of the app you choose to download. You will then be prompted to enter your Apple ID. Type this into the dialogue box when prompted to begin download. The speed of the download depends on the strength of your current wireless or 3G connection.
Enter the username and password for your wireless router when prompted. The app only works when your iPhone is connected to the same wireless as your Panasonic Viera. If necessary, connect your TV to the router using either a LAN cable (reference 1) or by installing a wireless LAN adapter.
Tap the “Pad” icon at the bottom right of the app to access the basic TV functions, such as channel and volume selection, which you can scroll by swiping up and down or left and right respectively. Tap the “Remote” icon to access more advanced functions, such as 3D, menu, programme information and aspect ratio.
