The Bose Acoustimass 5 subwoofer was designed to provide a full, rich bass complement to the small cube speakers in the Acoustimass system. The omnidirectional waves it produces allow it to be placed nearly anywhere in the room.

Size

The Acoustimass subwoofer is composed of two 5-1/4 inch drivers. The total size of the enclosure measures 7-5/8 inches wide, 14 inches high and 19-1/4 inches deep, and weighs 8.53 Kilogram. The electric impedance is rated at 8 ohms, and can handle loads up to 200 watts.

Materials

The 5-1/4 inch drivers are constructed from polymer composite. The enclosure is not magnetically shielded, however, and should be placed at least two feet from your television to avoid distortion. However, the satellite speakers are shielded and can be placed near a television.

Location

Because the bass module produces waves pointed in all directions, it can be located in any location in your home theatre; behind furniture, along a wall or in the corner of the room. Bose recommends at least two inches of space between the side with the round opening and any solid objects.
