How to make cod fish batter

Making batter for cod fillets is easy when you know the right way. An English fish-and-chips-style batter creates cod that is crisp and delicious.

  1. Mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir in the egg and milk until the batter is smooth. Let it stand for at least 20 minutes before using.

  2. Dredge each fillet or cutlet in some flour before dipping it into the batter.

  3. Fry as desired.

  4. Tip

    This batter recipe should be enough for four cod fillets.


    Make sure your oil is hot, or the batter won't be crisp.
