This Halloween you can forgo the crowds and inflated prices at party stores to make your own homemade costume. Many people will dress in dark, scary attire, but you can also stand out by dressing up as a good angel. While other costumes are much more complicated to make, you can put together an angel ensemble easily using items you may already have. You'll feel like a winner knowing that you have expressed your creativity without having to spend so much time and money.
- Skill level:
Things you need
- Tacky glue
- White craft feathers
- Hot glue gun
- White blouse
- White trousers
- Gold or silver shoes
- Gold tinsel
- Hair clips
Create the angel wings by tracing an angel wing pattern out of cardboard. Cut out the wings and apply tacky glue. Add rows of white feathers. Allow to dry, turn wings over and use the same technique to apply feathers on the other side. Use a hot glue gun to glue the wings to the back of the white blouse or shirt.
Wear white trousers or flowing skirt along with the white blouse. Put on gold or silver shoes.
Cut gold tinsel to about 15 inches long. Using the hot glue gun, glue ends together to form a tinsel circle. Attach the tinsel circle to your hair using hair clips, being careful to keep the round halo shape.
Tips and warnings
- Make sure to use enough feathers so that the edges of the wings are covered and the cardboard is not visible. Use all black clothes and feathers for a darker angel.
