Knitting a simple button hole involves knitting two stitches together, yarning over and then knitting the fourth stitch. Create a simple, small button hole with a demonstration from an experienced knitting instructor in this free video on yarn crafts.
Hello, I'm Mary Carol Jehn, Lamb Shoppe, Denver, Colorado. Today I'm going to demonstrate one particular kind of easy peezy lemon squeezy button hole. It's great for small children's sweaters and beginning button holes. There are many many kinds of button holes but this one is easy and fun. Knit one stitch, let's say this is a four stitch button hole. Then I knit two together. Now I have to make up for the stitch I just took off. I'll do a yarn over and then knit the fourth stitch. When you come back on that row, you will purl over to that yarn over if you are doing stockinette stitch and what yarn overs do is create holes. Knit over all the stitches and voila, I have a hole.
