Hello. My name is Summer Bellessa with ELIZA magazine and I'm here today to show you how to care for a suede jacket. What you're going to need is a can of fabric protector. Then also, to clean spots and that sort of thing, you can use either a dry clean towel, an unscented baby wipe, or even a stiff brush would work also. So the trick with caring for a suede jacket is prevention. If you can prevent any stains or the jacket from getting dirty, you're going to save yourself a lot of time and money. So what you're going to do is buy either the Scotchgard or the protection spray that you can get at shoe stores or leather stores, and you're going to make sure you're in a ventilated area and spray the coat before you wear it. And then, just follow the directions on the can, specifically what to do. Then if you have specific spots--I know with my jackets, usually the arms get a little bit dirtier than the rest of the coat and instead of going and take the whole jacket to get cleaned, you can spot treat it. And I'll either use the unscented baby wipe or the towel to just agitate any dirt off of the... off of either the collar or the stain or wherever it is or the cuffs. And then you can use your brush to just get them all off. And then if there's any more oil-based stains, a baby wipe does well, and you can also use a specific degreaser that they make for suede coats. And when you're applying, you want to make sure that you're never doing like a big round stroke or brushing too hard. Just agitate a little bit to get those off. And my name is Summer Bellessa and that is how to care for a suede coat.
