So I showed you the continental grip and what I'm going to get you used to it because it's not too easy to go from forehand grip into the continental grip right away especially within your motion and really hitting a live ball. So what we're going to do is actually slide you up and have you start. I'm on the service line right now, just behind the service line. We're going to hit a mini serve. O.k? with the continental grip right here the v of your hand going straight up. Your hand, your index knuckle on bevel number two. Now we're just going to take a half motion just to get used to squaring the racket face up top. It's called Pronation. You hear that all the time but it's pretty hard to think about pronating as you hit. Turning your racket up a little more on top and just squaring your racket face so you can hit forward. So what I'm going to is I'm going to demonstrate this with just a smaller version of a serve and I'm just getting used to it, especially after hitting a forehand grip for thirty-five years. This will be the easiest way in order to get that continental grip feel. Now what you do is you gradually go a little bit further down. So now I'll go about half way with the same exact grip. Notice I'm doing a half motion. I'm starting up here and then what I do at the end of that is I start going further down all the way at the end, where you normally would hit. Still the continental grip. It might be a little harder but you have to make sure you go a little softer right here so you get used to the idea of turning your racket on top so you get the racket facing the wall.
