The 2.6-litre Perkins diesel engine, known by the model designation 704-26, is commonly found in industrial equipment. According to Perkins, the 704-26 was produced in response to fork lift manufacturers looking to equip their lift trucks with indirect-injection diesel engines. This low-maintenance engine features all right-hand side service ports, and can run for 250 hours between oil changes.


The Perkins 704-26 diesel engine can produce 58 horsepower and 118 foot-pounds of torque at 2,600rpm.


The 2.6-litre Perkins diesel engine has a 3.58-inch stroke and a 3.94-inch bore, four vertically-arranged inline cylinders and a four-stroke engine cycle. Its compression ratio is 22-to-1.
