Random gifts for boyfriends

While Valentine's Day, Christmas and birthdays are the days your boyfriend probably expects to receive a gift from you, you could surprise him with a random gift any day of the year. "Just because" gifts are spontaneous, romantic and will make your boyfriend feel loved and appreciated.

Classic "Just Because" Gifts

Men don't just like to give bouquets of fresh flowers; many men really enjoy receiving them, too. Look for arrangements that include his favourite flowers or incorporate his favourite colours. Even a single red rose sends a message of love to your man. You could also surprise him with a sweet card, a fancy meal, his favourite cologne, an expensive bottle of wine or champagne, a case of his favourite microbrew beer or a box of chocolates. Bake a batch of his favourite cookies, or surprise him with a takeout meal at work during lunch.

Something He's Been Wanting

Sometimes we all feel trepidation about spending money on ourselves, especially during times of financial instability. If your boyfriend has been oogling a new power tool, geeky techno gadget or vintage record, buy it for him. You can give it to him right away, or you could get inventive with your presentation by leaving it somewhere he's likely to "find" it or waiting to give it to him when he's had an especially hard day.

Handmade Clothing

According to an article as Knitty.com, you are in danger of the "sweater curse" whenever you knit for a partner you are only dating and to whom you aren't "officially" committed. Knitter anecdotes about failed relationships probably have more to do with general relationship failure rates rather than actual curses. If you know how to knit, ignore the sweater curse and knit a sweater or scarf for your boyfriend. Start well in advance, since large projects can take a long time to complete even for experienced knitters. If your boyfriend likes Harry Potter, make a stripy scarf like the one Potter wears in the movies; you could make a Freddy sweater for a horror buff.
