For many years, people have become familiar with the mob through popular culture. Films like "The Godfather" and "Goodfellas" and the TV hit show "The Sopranos" have made the world of the Italian-American mafia a popular phenomenon. If the birthday boy or girl has a preoccupation with all things mob-related, plan a mob-themed party that brings out all the guests' inner mobster.

Decorations and Invitiations

The stereotypical mobster enjoys a good slice of authentic Italian pizza. For that reason, turn your party space into an Italian pizzeria or eatery. Do that by gathering up small circular tables and placing them around the party area. Use red-and-white checkered table cloths, and top them with napkin dispensers or small, red candles in glass candle-holders. Make a restaurant sign that cleverly depicts your party theme, such as "Pizza to Die For" or "Vinny the Hit Man's Italian Restaurant." If you really want to make your mob theme prevalent, splatter some fake blood around the party area and add some maps of Italy to the walls.

To invite your guests, send invitation cards shaped like tommy guns to each invitee. Address the invitees using mobster names. For example, address your friend Mary as Mary "The Man Killer." Tell them all to come dressed as mobsters or mobsters' wives from the 1930s to the 1950s.

Food and Drinks

After a long day of dirty dealings, your mobsters need some food to fill their stomachs. Following the Italian restaurant theme, serve pizza, pasta, breadsticks and salads for dinner. For dessert, serve Italian desserts like tiramisu or cannolis.

Provide your guests some liquid refreshments in the form of Italian soda. First, gather up your ingredients to make one serving of the beverage. These include a flavoured syrup, such as strawberry, some carbonated water, a 1/4 cup of half-and-half, and ice. Measure 7 tablespoons of the flavoured syrup, and pour it into a 567gr. cup. Add the 1/4 cup of half-and-half, and fill the rest of the glass with carbonated water and ice. Stir the ingredients together, and serve topped with whipped cream.

Activities and Games

You can't have a mob-themed party without your guests playing the part as mobsters. Do this by taking part in some depraved activities throughout the night. Start the party by playing the game, "Which Mob Man Am I?" Each party guest gets an index card with the name of a famous mobster on it. Guests can't see the cards, which are taped to their foreheads. The players then mingle, and ask each other "yes" and "no" questions to determine which mobster they are. Play until everyone has figured out who their mobster is. Continue the party by playing some trivia games concerning your favourite mobster movies.
