Shoes to wear with wide-leg trousers

Updated April 17, 2017

Wide-legged trousers are a versatile trend that helps women make the transition from office to playtime seamlessly. However, certain shoes look better with the trend than others. If you shy away from heels and prefer boots and pointed shoes, you might need to revamp your "shoe wardrobe" before investing heavily in wide-legged trousers.

High Heels or Flats?

High heels provide a sleeker look and tend to look better with wide-legged trousers. However, flats are more comfortable and ergonomically correct. According to Charla Krupp of MORE Magazine, a chunkier heels looks better with wide-legged trousers as opposed to a skinny stiletto. If you are taller (at least 5-foot-7), a flat might be better for you.

However, Jackie Ostrowski, a guest blogger with The Chicago Tribune, suggested always wearing shoes with some height to them. If you don't, you risk looking footless.

Pointed or Round?

The people behind advises against pointed shoes with your wide-legged trousers. Instead, they suggest sticking with open-toed or round-toed shoes.

Boots should be worn with darker, heavier trousers in winter. Fashion Time magazine with suggests wearing boots that fit closely to your leg in order to avoid indentation marks with your trousers.
