Share Contact Information With Your Barcode

You can add Blackberry Messenger contacts by scanning a friend's barcode, rather than the traditional method of typing in his PIN. Have the friend display the barcode on the screen by choosing the "Display My Barcode" option in the Blackberry Messenger profile menu. Open your Blackberry Messenger application, then choose "Invite Contact." Click the "Scan a Person's Barcode" option, and then choose "Continue". You can scan the barcode using your Blackberry's camera, so aim the camera lens at your friend's phone until you hear a beep. This beep indicates that the barcode has been successfully scanned.

Have a Group Conversation

Blackberry Messenger's latest version-5.0- gives users a handy feature that wasn't available in the previous software version. If you have a new Blackberry, this version should be pre-installed. Otherwise, you can upgrade for free from Blackberry's application store. Start a conversation with one of your contacts. Include multiple BBM contacts in one conversation by highlighting the desired contact name, opening the menu and choosing "Invite to Conference." The contacts will have to accept your request to join the chat conference.

Scan a Quick Response Code

Many companies are utilising quick-response (QR) codes to allow mobile phone users to download their information quickly. A quick-response code is basically a bar code containing embedded information that can be scanned utilising your Blackberry's camera. The codes can contain information, links to a URL, driving directions, coupons and more. Open your Blackberry Messenger application and press the "Menu" key. Choose "Invite Contact", then "Scan A Person's Barcode". Hold your device so that the camera lens is pointed at the QR code and can be viewed on your Blackberry's screen. Wait until you hear the success beep. Your Blackberry will prompt you to open the link from the QR code. Click "Yes".
