Animals

Create a variety of candy cane figurines using plastic candy canes and ribbon. Ideas include candy cane mice, which can be created by cutting a piece of felt in a rounded triangle shape for the mouse body and head. Two slits near the point of the felt are made for inserting another piece of felt as the ears, which will also work for holding your candy cane. The cane, which acts as a curvy mouse tail, can have a ribbon tied to it for extra decoration. Other ideas for candy cane animal crafts include candy cane butterflies, with craft foam or construction paper as the wings, the candy cane as the body and ribbons as antennae.

Ornaments

Small candy canes and ribbons can be used to create assorted Christmas ornaments that range from the simple to the intricate. Simple ornament options include tying a piece of holiday ribbon to a plastic candy cane, while more ornate ideas include candy reindeer using brown pipe cleaner, red pom poms and googly eyes. Red ribbon is used to hang the ornament.

Photo Frames

Plastic candy canes and ribbons can be used to dress up plain photo frames by being glued around the entire length of the frame or by using a candy at each of the frame's corners depending on the size of the candy canes and frame. Weave ribbon in between the canes or tie the ribbon in bows as additional frame decorations. The same may be done to holiday notice boards or plain wooden boxes filled with holiday candy.

Additional Craft Ideas

Additional craft ideas for plastic candy canes and ribbon include attaching the canes tied with ribbon to gifts as package ornaments or using larger plastic candy canes and ribbon as decorations for door knobs. Candy canes can also be glued together in a heart shape, painted red and garnished with white ribbon as a Valentine's Day decoration. Thin snowmen can be created by rolling a tube of felt, tying the ends with ribbon and sticking it over the curved section of the candy cane. Use another piece of felt or ribbon as a scarf and black and orange felt pieces for the face. Large candy canes may also be used as "North Pole" signs using pieces of card stock cut and painted as an arrow sign and decorated with ribbon.
