Halloween is one of the most fun holidays of the year. Even though most adults don't trick-or-treat for themselves anymore, it's always fun to dress up. A popular costume theme for adults is a space costume. Don't get caught with the same old Star Wars or Star Trek costume that everyone else bought at the store -- break out your creative side and think outside the box for your space costume idea.

Find a pair of green leggings or sweatpants and a similarly-coloured sweatshirt or long-sleeved shirt. Attach designs cut from tinfoil or paper to look like alien markings, and glue on pipe-cleaners or other small craft supplies like pom poms to make your "alien body" look strange and foreign. Top off the outfit with a headband with antenna attached, either store-bought or one you made yourself using glue, pipe cleaners and pom poms at the ends.

You'll need two boxes for your robot costume: one that you can fit all, or most, of your torso in, and another smaller box that can go on your head. Spray paint the boxes silver and cut out a face hole in the smaller box to make it a helmet, and cut neck, arm and leg holes in the bigger box for your body parts to fit through. Wear silver or grey leggings and a matching long-sleeved shirt and put the box body on over your clothes and place your box helmet on your head.

Use a large piece of cardboard to cut two large circles of the same size. Attach them to each other with straps that are shoulder-width apart so that you can wear your "planet" over your head with one circle covering the front of you and the other circle covering the back of you. Decorate the cardboard to look like your favourite planet, and wear black or dark blue underneath to look like the sky. If you're dressing up as Saturn, you can add Hula Hoops as rings.

Black Hole

You can pull together a clever space costume even if you are invited to the theme party at the last minute with this black hole costume. Simply raid your wardrobe for all of your black clothing, and put together the pieces that look good together: black jeans and a black top is a good match, or a black dress. Then, with washable marker or eyeliner, write "black hole" on your cheek or other easily visible body part, so your friends understand the joke.
