Small "thank you" gifts for friends

Updated November 21, 2016

When friends do something special for you, whether it is watering your plants while you are on vacation or helping you with a project at your home, it's a good idea to give them a gift in return. Thank-you gifts do not have to be extravagant or costly. Just come up with a present that is thoughtful and appropriate for whatever they have done for you.

Bottle of Wine

When you are thanking a friend who enjoys unwinding at the end of the day with a glass of wine, choose a bottle of wine. While some bottles of wine can be very expensive, you can also find all sorts of wines that are good, yet inexpensive. Go to a local wine shop for a recommendation on the best wine that is within your budget. Local wineries and vineyards also often have inexpensive options.

Baked Goods

A thoughtful and inexpensive gift option for your friend is baked goods. Choose baked goods from a bakery or make them yourself. For example, make a batch of chocolate-chip cookies, brownies, blondies or miniature pies. Place the sweet treats in a decorative tin or a container that looks like a Chinese takeout box. Add a note of thanks with the baked goods.

Bath Products

Put together a small gift basket for your friend that is filled with bath products. Choose small, travel-sized bath products to cut down on costs or shop for the products in a dollar store. Fill a small basket with items like bath salts, bubble bath, shower gel, decorative soaps and a loofah.

Choose an aromatherapy candle for your friend as a way to say thank you for something that she has done for you. Select a candle that has a soothing or relaxing fragrance in a colour that will complement the decor in her home. Give her a candle holder along with the candle so that she has a place to set it.
