One of the reasons we love kids is because of their pure, unfettered enthusiasm for simply being silly. From playing dress up to making funny faces, nothing is off limits. For your crazy kid, there are crazy hats you can make that he or she will love to wear. With some basic supplies, such as sticks, straws, tape and strings, you are well on your way to creating some crazy hats today.

Drinking Straw Hat

A crazy hat made from flexible straws is a delight for any child. You can put together this easy-to-make hat using coloured duct tape, flexible straws, pipe cleaners, tacky glue and pom-poms. After you measure the child's head, cut the duct tape to the measurement plus a little bit more. Have the child stick straws to the sticky tape and layer another strip of duct tape to cover the straws. Use more coloured tape to make a colourful band. Insert pipe cleaners into the straws and top them off with pom-poms.

Stick Hat

If you have a nature-loving youngster, try a crazy stick hat. All you need for this hat is sticks, string and glue. Gather sticks between eight and twelve inches long. Tie a 12-inch long piece of string to the end of one stick and another string at the bottom of the same stick. Add more sticks with strings wrapped around them. Continue this process until there are enough sticks and strings to reach the circumference of the child's head. Finish of the hat by joining the ends and brushing them with glue.
