The "HTTP Error 400 Bad Request" message pops up if you're using Internet Explorer 9 and trying to receive instant messages. It usually happens on Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 platforms that also run Outlook Web Access. Microsoft has a solution for this occurrence in the form of a free update. It's important to always download and install the latest Microsoft updates for your system to avoid these error messages in the future.

    Go to the Microsoft Download Center ( website.

    Type "KB2529939" into the search box and press "Enter." The site loads a link called "Update Rollup 3-v3 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1." Click on it.

    Click the red "Download" button.

    Click "Save" on the box that pops up.

    Wait for the program to download. It may take up to one minute.

    Double-click on the program icon to start the installation process.

    Click "Open" and follow the instructions for installing it.

    Reboot your PC after you install Rollup 3.
