All televisions manufactured after 2000 and 13 inches or larger are required by the Federal Communications Commission to include a V-chip. Parents set a secret code to lock certain channels or programs in an effort to control what their children see on TV. To unlock a channel or turn off the V-chip, you need to know the secret code. If you have forgotten the secret code or purchased a used Panasonic television with the code set, you need to reset your Panasonic TV back to its factory default settings.
