The BlackBerry is a popular and useful handheld device. Installed along with the BlackBerry operating system is the BlackBerry Messenger application. BlackBerry Messenger is an instant messaging program that allows BlackBerry users to communicate with one another using their device phone number or PIN (product identification number). If you have accidentally uninstalled BlackBerry Messenger, or somehow your installation has become corrupted, you can reset the BlackBerry Messenger app by reinstalling it using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software.

- BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed on the syncing computer
Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager application on the computer.
Plug the BlackBerry device into an unused USB port on the computer using the USB connector cable that is shipped with the device. The BlackBerry will register in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager application.
Click the "Application Loader" option on the main screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. A list of installed and available applications appears.
Right-click on the BlackBerry Messenger entry in the Applications list and select "Reinstall." The check box in front of the entry fills.
Click the "Next" button and then click "Finish." Progress bars indicate the progress of the installation, and a notification appears when the application is reinstalled.
