The ASUS Eee PC stores all of the netbook's original data to a recovery partition on the hard disk drive. When you boot the netbook from the recovery partition, the software on the partition will format the hard drive and restore the Win 7 operating system (OS) to its factory default settings.
Formatting the hard drive can save the OS from malware infections and critical system problems, as well as improve netbook performance and increase operating speed. To perform a recovery of the Win 7 OS, boot the netbook from the recovery partition and run the restore software.
