How to Make Rainforest Flowers

Updated February 21, 2017

If you're hosting a rain forest-themed birthday party or barbecue, decorate with faux rainforest flora to add vibrant colour and an authentic feel to your rainforest decor. For example, you can construct fake rainforest flowers to place around your home or in your yard to help create a rainforest environment. You can make rainforest flowers using a few simple materials and a little bit of creativity.

Lay a sheet of coloured tissue paper onto a flat surface. Set a pencil compass to 8 inches, and draw an 8-inch circle onto the tissue paper. Repeat to draw eight 8-inch circles on the coloured tissue paper. Select any colour paper you prefer.

Cut out all of the tissue paper circles using scalloped-edges pinking shears. The pinking shears will cut the edges of the circles to appear ruffled and decorative.

Lay the cut-out circles on top of each other in a stack. Line up the edges of the circles.

Pinch the stack in the centre, and wrap a green chenille stick around the pinched-middle. Twist the chenille stick to secure it in place and to cinch the middle of the stack.

Separate the different layers of coloured tissue paper to make the rainforest flower full and lush-looking.

Repeat this process to make as many rainforest flowers as you need.
