In order to completely reset your HP Pavilion DV9700 laptop, you will need to erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. This will reformat the hard drive, restoring the Pavilion to its factory settings. This can be accomplished using the Windows DVD included with the laptop. If you have important data on the DV9700, you should back it up before proceeding. Once restored, no original data will remain.
