Skype is a software application that harnesses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, allowing millions of users around the world to enjoy the benefits of real-time communication at little or no cost. Skype users can communicate with other users through video chat, voice calls and text messaging. When you purchase premium services, you will be assigned your own phone number that anyone, including non-Skype users, can call via Skype or a traditional landline phone. You can also place outbound calls using the Skype service. If you don't want your phone number to be revealed on the Caller ID displays of the people you call, you can block this feature and keep your phone number private.
