How to Replace the Dome Light in a Celica

Updated July 20, 2017

The dome light in a Toyota Celica is useful for visibility in the interior of the vehicle. The dome light, as implied by its name, is located on the roof of the vehicle, and it requires a replacement bulb when the original bulb burns out. The bulb can be purchased at any automotive parts store. Bring the old bulb, or reference a bulb chart at the automotive parts store to ensure purchase of the correct replacement bulb.

Ensure that the car is parked and the engine is turned off. Set the parking brake.

Pry the transluscent dome light cover, using with a flathead screwdriver in the slot specifically made for the insertion of the screwdriver. Place the cover to the side.

Pull the bulb out by hand. Replace with the new bulb (hold the replacement bulb with a paper tissue to ensure that oils from your hand do not contaminate the glass part of the bulb, which could cause it to burn out prematurely). Push the bulb in until it locks in place.

Push the transluscent cover over the light assembly and push it up until it locks into the assembly. There will be a "click" sound when it does lock.

Test the light by turning the interior lights on.
