How to Make Greek Sandals From Flip Flops
A pair of flip flops can easily look like Greek sandals. (Jupiterimages/ Images)

You can't exactly run out to any retailer and grab a pair of Greek sandals, so if you need some in a hurry, make your own. Modifying a pair of flip flops to look like Greek sandals is fast and looks realistic if you need them for a Halloween costume or school play. Once you are done with the Greek look, the flip flops can be reused.

  1. 1

Cut the ribbon into two equal pieces. Grosgrain ribbon will work best and can be purchased at any fabric store.

  2. 2

Place the centre of a piece of ribbon underneath the foot and pull the pieces up so they are equal on both sides of the foot.

  3. 3

Crisscross the ribbon around the calf, coming up to the knee. The crisscrosses should form large "X" shapes on the front and back of the calf.

  4. 4

Tie the ribbon in a knot once you reach the knee. The knot should be underneath the knee. To keep the knotted ribbon in place, a rubber band can be slipped under the knee and over the knot to keep it secure. Make sure the rubber band is not too tight or painful.

  5. 5

Repeat the process for the other leg.

  6. 6

Slip your feet into flip flops the same colour of the ribbon you used, and it will give the illusion of Grecian sandals.
