Restart your computer. In many cases, a simple restart of the computer will fix the Lexmark X8350 when it will not scan. Click "Start," then "Shutdown" and then "Restart" to reboot the computer. Try scanning again, and if it does not work, proceed to the next step.
Check the connection for the scanner to make sure everything is plugged in correctly. This includes the USB cable and the power cable. Try unplugging both and then plugging them back in. Try scanning again.

Uninstall and reinstall the scan software. Click "Start," then "Control Panel" and then "Add/Remove Programs." Select the "All-In-One Center" and click "Uninstall." Click "Next" and "Finish" to complete the deinstallation. Restart the computer and then insert the "All-In-One Center" disk to reinstall the program. Try scanning again.
