The Volvo S60 is a compact executive sedan that made its debut in 2000. You can remove the rear seat from your 2002 Volvo S60 yourself, saving a trip to the mechanic. The reason to remove the rear seat is usually to reupholster it due to wear and tear. It should take about 30 minutes to complete the job. To make the job easier and to prevent damaging the interior of the Volvo, enlist a friend to help you remove the seat.

Slide the front seats as far forward as possible and open both doors next to the rear seat.

Lift up the rear seat cushion and release by hand the two retaining hooks near the two hinges of the seat. Remove the seat cushion.

Release the catches that hold the backrest in place. The catches can be found on the upper part of the backrest. Pull the back seat out of the vehicle with the help of a friend.
