The addition of peacock feathers to a silk flower arrangement creates interest and a touch of the exotic. As you select the colour of the peacock feathers for your arrangement, consider the flowers, as the most pleasing designs will coordinate the colours of both. Vary the height and width of the feathers to achieve more visual interest. Examine the shape of the container, as each container allows different options for the placement of the feathers and flowers. Once you have planned your design, put it together and showcase your display.

  1. 1

Strip all greenery from white silk flowers, such as orchids, lilies or roses, and spray paint the stems white. Insert the flowers into a white square vase, arranging the taller flowers in the middle with the smaller ones to the side. Add white peacock feathers fanning out in the back of the arrangement.

  2. 2

Pick flowers that match the colours of a peacock feather, such as hyacinths, statice or delphiniums. Place one large peacock feather in the back of the vase. Group the flowers by folding stems to create smaller height flowers in the front with larger ones building up to the feather. Place greenery in a descending size to the side of the feather.

  3. 3

Trim the stems of the peacock feathers. Spray paint plant foam a vivid teal and insert the peacock feathers in the centre of a low rectangular container. Cut the stems of the silk flowers, keeping them under the height of the peacock feather. Stick the flowers on the edges of the container.

  4. 4

Fill a large-necked vase with purple, sea foam, turquoise, teal and bright green marbles. Place an odd number of peacock feathers in varying heights inside the vase. Wrap the ends of purple iris silk flowers along the neck of the vase and intersperse several inside with the peacock feathers.

  5. 5

Place a single flower into a bud vase. Position a peacock feather behind it. Tie a bow from a ribbon that matches the colour of the eye of the feather around the neck of the vase. Add a clear bead in a coordinating colour to each end of the ribbon.

Tips and warnings

  • Choose a peacock feather with an eye colour that matches your existing decor.
  • Leave space in your arrangement so the feather comes through.
