How to Create a Rey Mysterio Mask for Free

Rey Mysterio is a very popular lucha libre wrestler with an iconic mask. Many people wish to recreate this mask for their own enjoyment or for a Halloween costume. Buying an exact replica can be costly. Even making one yourself could be expensive. Luckily, you can make your own Rey Mysterio mask using scraps and materials you can find around your house.

Use the measuring tape to measure the size of the mask-wearer's head. Take the number you get, add two-inches then divide it by two.

Cut fabric out of the yellow swimming costume. You will need two pieces that have a width that matches the number you calculated in Step 1 and a length of at least 15 inches. When cutting, make the bottom and sides of these fabric pieces straight while making the top rounded to mimic the curve of your head.

Sew the two pieces of fabric together. Leave the bottom open.

Determine what will be the front of the mask. Outline the shape of the eyes and mouth using strips of black vinyl. Use the hot glue gun to put them in place.

Cut out the fabric inside the area of the eyes and mouth.

Use puff paint left over from your last project to add embellishments. Add black strips across the sides of the mask and draw a cross on the forehead area.

Allow hot glue and paint to dry. The mask is now ready to wear.
