How to Restore Deleted SMS Text

Updated April 17, 2017

There are any number of reasons why you would want to delete the text of your SMS text messages. There are also a number of reasons why you would want or need to restore the SMS text that has been deleted from your phone or mobile device. Most cell phones and mobile devices do not have the ability to retrieve or restore SMS text messages that have been deleted, but the task of restoring such messages can be accomplished through the use of a free program called BitPim, which can store SMS text information remotely to be restored at a later time.

Install and launch the BitPim program.

Connect your cell phone or mobile device to your computer via USB connection.

Go to "Edit," then click on "Detect Phone" in the main menu of the BitPim application. The BitPim application will automatically detect the phone or device, once it connects to the computer, and display it on the main application window. If it does so, this step will not be necessary.

Select "Data," then "Get Phone Data" from the main menu. This will open the "Get Data from Phone" dialogue window.

Check the box next to "SMS" and the circle under "Add" in the same row, then click on "OK." This will sync the phone or mobile device's SMS mesages to the BitPim application for restoration at a laterime.

Select "Data," then "Get Phone Data," then click on "OK" when you want to restore the SMS texts back to the phone or mobile device.
