Just like a real city, your city in "SimCity" will face problems that require quick action to combat. You will experience natural disasters, riots and fire, and it is up to you to dispatch workers quickly to handle the respective problems.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Press the "Go-To Disaster" button to take you to the site of the disaster. To set this up as an auto-response, you can change your preferences menu. This button can only be used in the time of an emergency, and if there is more than one emergency happening at the same time, you will need to continue pressing the button to cycle through them.

  2. 2

Activate the warning siren. This alerts your Sims to the emergency so that they may take appropriate precautions. Use this alarm for those catastrophes that make sense with advance warnings, such as tornadoes and fires. However, overuse of this button may lead to your Sims thinking that this alarm is a hoax, and they will fail to heed it.

  3. 3

Use the "Dispatch Police" tool for those disasters where police assistance is needed, such as a riot. The number of police you can dispatch depends upon how many police stations your city has. If you only have one police station, you can only press the button once. If you have no police stations, immediately purchase one and place it in proximity of the disaster.

  4. 4

Use the "Dispatch Firefighters" to control any outbreaks of fire, which can also occur after earthquakes, tornadoes and riots. As with the police, you can only dispatch as many firefighters as you have fire stations. Should a fire break out in an area that doesn't have a fire station, buy and place the fire station to dispatch the assistance.

Tips and warnings

  • You can start your own disasters in SimCity, and this includes everything from a simple fire to an alien invasion.
