How to Play 'Singstar' Via a PC

"Singstar" is a game made for consoles that enables the player to sing karaoke to a wide variety of songs. The PC equivalent of "Singstar" is called "UltraStar Deluxe" and is an open source product that can be played with multiple people with a variety of different songs that are downloadable from the Internet. With a few quick downloads it's simple to get started playing "UltraStar Deluxe" on the PC to satisfy your "Singstar" cravings.

    Downloading the Software and Songs

    Download "UltraStar Deluxe" to your PC (see resources).

    Double-click on the installation file to start the installation process.

    Install "UltraStar Deluxe" by following the on-screen instructions.

    Download songs for "UltraStar Deluxe" (see resources).

    Unzip the song files into the Songs directory in the folder you installed for "UltraStar Deluxe."

    Playing 'UltraStar Deluxe'

    Attach the USB microphone or "Singstar" microphone to the computer and it will recognise the device as an external microphone. If your computer has a default microphone you will need to go to the Control Panel, Sounds (or Sounds and Audio Devices on some machines), and find the Recording option to change to the newly added "Singstar" microphone.

    Double-click on the newly created "UltraStar Deluxe" icon on the desktop to run the program.

    Select a song to play from the main menu. "UltraStar Deluxe" will recognise the song you added to the Songs folder and it will appear on the song selection menu.

    Sing a song with the aid of the attached microphone as you would with "Singstar" by singing to the melody.
