How to Repeat a Notification of an SMS Message

Updated July 19, 2017

When receiving an SMS message, commonly referred to as "text message," you may not have realised you received the message. Your cell phone will alert you when you receive an SMS by a sound or vibration, depending on how you have set your cell phone for SMS alerts. You can set your cell phone to repeat notification that you have a text message if you missed the first one.

Open the "Settings" application on your cell phone.

Scroll through the menu until you see "Messages" or "Alerts" depending on the type of cell phone you have.

Click or switch the "Repeat Alert" under the SMS message screen to "On." Click the "Settings" button to take you back to the "Settings" menu.

Scroll through the menu until you see "Sounds" and open it. Open "New Text Message."

Click or switch the "New Text Message" to "On." This way you can hear an alert when you have a new text message as well as when the cell phone notifies you again.

Tip

The cell phone will not make an alert sound if the phone is on silent.
