While viruses and Trojans designed to attack the Mac operating system are rare, they do exist and can wreak havoc on a user's computer once they have infected the system. Malicious software can open new security holes in your computer, delete important system files, download new threats and can generally make using your computer frustrating and difficult. Getting rid of infections on your Mac is similar to getting rid of them on a Windows computer.
