The Sony Vaio, like any other available laptop computer, allows computer users the convenience of portable use. While the Vaio comes with its own monitor, it can also connect to external computer monitors. Because of this, users can use an external monitor instead of their original monitor, or expand their laptop monitor's screen onto another screen. As long as you have the right equipment, this is a simple procedure.

  1. 1

Connect one end of your VGA cable to the port on your Vaio laptop.

  2. 2

Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the VGA port on your computer monitor.

  3. 3

Turn your computer monitor on. The "Display" properties window should now appear on your computer. Adjust the settings in this window, such as screen resolution and position, to suit your needs. If you wish to extend your desktop monitor to the second monitor, check the "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" option. Press the "Apply" button to begin using your external monitor.
