Most factory Ford models, including the Ford Focus, require DIN-style release keys to remove the stereo from the centre console. DIN-style release keys can be bought at most auto parts stores and they are made to work on most Ford models. On the Ford Focus, the stereo is very easy to remove and there is no need to go to a mechanic. The stereo will need to removed from the Ford when making repairs to it.
Park the Focus on level ground.
Put the keys into the slots that are found at the sides of the stereo.
Manoeuvre the keys left to right in order to loosen the stereo from the Focus from the locking tangs.
Pull the stereo away from the Focus.
Unplug the electric connectors from the back of the stereo.
