How to replace the battery on a maglite solitaire

Updated March 23, 2017

The Maglite Solitaire is the smallest of the Maglite flashlights. This flashlight is designed to be convenient enough to carry around in your pocket or place on a key ring. The Solitaire's battery is replaceable. Doing so takes less than five minutes. Maglite does not recommend using rechargeable batteries in the Solitaire. Use standard batteries for best results.

Turn the Maglite's lens cover to power the flashlight off. Flip the flashlight over to view the bottom.

Turn the bottom edge counterclockwise to unscrew it. This is the end with the small key chain loop. Set the cap to the side when it comes off. This will give you access to the battery.

Position the flashlight so the lens is facing up. Catch the old battery as it slides out of the compartment.

Push the new AAA battery into the compartment. The "plus" end of the battery needs to be facing the lens. The flat end will be facing the bottom.

Attach the bottom edge cap. Turn it clockwise to tighten it. Turn the flashlight lens to turn the flashlight on to test the new battery.
