If you notice that the ink on documents printed on your HP 3030 is smearing or rubbing off the page, chances are your fuser cartridge needs to be changed. The job of the fuser cartridge is to seal the ink to the paper, and if the fuser is worn out or malfunctioning this sealing cannot take place. If you notice any of these problems, you can order a replacement fuser and replace it yourself.

Instructions

  1. 1

Shut down the printer and allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes before changing the fuser cartridge. The fuser gets very hot when the printer is in use.

  2. 2

Turn the HP 3030 around so that you can easily access the back of the unit. Open the rear door of the printer.

  3. 3

Flip down the small clips that hold the fuser cartridge in place. Grasp the fuser by its handle and pull it straight out of the printer.

  4. 4

Remove the replacement fuser from the carton and remove any packaging materials used to protect it in transit. These packaging materials are generally coloured orange to make them easier to find.

  5. 5

Grasp the fuser by its handle and slide it straight into the printer until you feel it fit into place. Flip the clips up to lock the fuser in place, then close the back door and power on the printer.
