How to Connect a Toshiba Laptop to a Sony Bravia TV

Updated February 21, 2017

A Toshiba laptop hooks up to a Sony Bravia with a standard S-video cable to view laptop content on the larger TV screen. Like most laptops, the Toshiba uses a hot key combination to turn off the built-in LCD screen and activate the video output to the external device, such as a Bravia TV. There are three different key sequences for changing the video output on a Toshiba laptop, depending on the model.

Shut down the Toshiba and turn off the Bravia.

Connect the S-video cable from the port on the back edge of the Toshiba to the S-video port on the back panel of the Bravia TV.

Turn on the laptop and the television.

Press one of the following hot key combinations, depending on the Toshiba laptop model: "Fn" and "F5," "Fn" and "END" or "CTRL" "ALT" and "END." Press the keys together to switch the video output from the Toshiba to the Sony Bravia.
