The Canon Pixma iP3600 uses ink jet print technology, meaning it houses several cartridges or tanks of liquid ink. The cartridges sit in dedicated slots on the cartridge assembly, which moves from side to side inside the printer. Electrical impulses trigger the cartridges to spray tiny droplets of the different-coloured ink onto specific areas of pages as they pass through the printer. When the ink runs out in one of the cartridges, you may see an alert on your computer screen or the "Ink Low" warning light flashing on the printer itself.
