How to Send a Free & Anonymous SMS

Updated March 23, 2017

Sending anonymous text messages can be fun if you're in the mood to prank a friend. It's even more exciting when the text messages are for free. You can bug your friends by sending them random texts or you can confess to your secret crush while staying anonymous. Anonymous text messages are also useful when you want to maintain your privacy while delivering an important message to someone. There are many websites on the Internet that allow you to send anonymous and completely free text messages to any number.

Go to the website Textforfree.

Enter the recipient's cell phone number in the first field.

Enter the subject of the SMS in the second field.

Enter the message in the message box. You can write up to 140 characters.

Select the recipient's network carrier from the list. If you're unsure, click the link that says "Don't Know? - Look it up." On the lookup page, enter the phone number and submit to find out which carrier the number belongs to.

Go back to the Textforfree page and click on "Send Free Text Message." Your text message will then be sent to the recipient.

Go to the website Anontxt. Enter an alias or a nickname in the first field. This is optional and can be left blank.

Enter a subject for the text message in the second field. Enter the phone number in the next field. Type in the message in the fourth box. You are allowed to write up to 145 characters.

Click "Submit." Your text message will then be sent to the recipient.

Go to the website ArmSMS.

Write the recipient's phone number in the "Send to" field. Enter your message in the message box. You are allowed 160 characters.

Check the box next to "I agree to Terms of Use."

Click on "Send SMS." Your anonymous message will then be sent to the recipient.

Don't abuse the free SMS service by spamming. Keep the number of texts to a minimum and use the websites only when necessary.
