Dl.exe is a malicious software program that is commonly associated with the W.32Bagz@mm virus. Dl.exe spreads to other computers by sending itself to various e-mail addresses found on its host computer. Several Windows operations are altered, including the Windows start-up. Dl.exe add's a value to Windows registry that allows it to start every time Windows is booted, and simultaneously disables Windows firewall. Removal of the Dl.exe virus involves deleting each file that the virus creates by using the Windows search function.

    Click on the "Start" button located on the bottom left portion of your desktop. Type "dl.exe" in the "Search programs and files" textbox directly above the "Start" button menu.

    Right-click on dl.exe and click "Open file location." The dl.exe file folder will now be open on the screen. Deleting the file requires the user to "end" the process in Windows task manager.

    Right click on the Windows taskbar, then click "Start task manager."

    Click on the "Process" tab located at the top of Windows Task Manager. Locate the "dl.exe" file, right-click on it and press "End Process." The dl.exe file has now stopped running.

    Click the "Start" button located on the bottom left portion of the screen. Type in "cmd.exe" in the "Search programs and files" textbox. Click on the "cmd.exe" button to load the command prompt.

    Open the folder that contained "dl.exe". Right click on the folder's name in the text box address and click "Copy." The folder's address is in your browser's address window.

    Type in "dir /" in the command prompt, then press "Control" then the "V" key after typing in "dir /" to copy the file folder location of dl.exe in the command prompt. The folder will not be open in the command prompt.

    Type in "rmdir /" then press "Control" then the "V" key to copy the file folder location in the command prompt. This command will delete the entire folder that contains "dl.exe." Restart your computer.
