Open your iTunes program on your computer to access your music.
Click on “New Playlist” from the “File” menu. This option allows you to create a playlist that you can synchronise onto your iPod.
Name the playlist--this is required when you create the playlist. For the BMW iPod audio unit to recognise the playlist, you must use a specific name. You should name the playlist “BMW#XXX”--replacing the # with a number between 1 and 5, and replacing the X’s with any letters you like; e.g., BMW4POD.
Drag songs from your iTunes library into the new playlist. This simply means clicking on a title, holding it down and dragging it into the playlist title on the left side of the screen.
Connect your iPod to your computer and allow the iPod to synchronise with iTunes, which will transfer the new BMW playlist to your iPod.
Connect the iPod to your BMW audio system. It will scan the iPod for compatible playlists and allocate BMW playlists to a button on the audio system--for example, Preset 1, “BMW1POD”; Preset 2, “BMW2POD.”
