A flip book is an online document that contains "dynamic pages" that you can grab by the corners and flip onto the next page like a regular printed book. Convert your document to a flip book by using a conversion service or software (see Resources for an example). Most flip book conversion programs accept either PDF or JPEG files for conversion to a flipping book (a series of Flash pages). After the conversion you have two choices for adding the flip book to your website.

  1. 1

Wait to receive a third-party HTML link from the conversion software or online tool. In this case, the flip book service houses your flip book file (and all associated files) on its own server. The link will display in your browser or account. This is most common with online flip book conversion tools where you process the conversion from your browser.

  2. 2

Select and copy the link onto your computer's clipboard.

  3. 3

Open the HTML file for the page on your website where you want the link to the flip book to reside. For instance, if you have a "Product" page on your website currently, you can add the flipping book link there.

  4. 4

Type a standard "<a href>" opening and closing tag somewhere in the "body" of the HTML file of your chosen page. Paste the third-party flip book link into the tag. So for instance, if the third party link is "" the tag might read "<a href=>Click here for the flip book</a>".

  5. 5

Save and upload the updated HTML file to your Web server.

  1. 1

Choose a file folder where you want your flip book files (includes HTML, SWF, JavaScript and sometimes XML files) to reside on your computer.

  2. 2

Allow the software to generate the files that will make up your flip book. Name your new HTML file anything you want, like "flipbook.html," when prompted by the software. This method is commonly required by standalone flip book software programs that you must download to your computer.

  3. 3

Upload the folder of files generated by your page flip software program to your website server.

  4. 4

Type in the full website address for the flip book into your browser to test the flip book. For example, if your website is "" the full address will now be "".

Tips and warnings

  • You need Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer system in order to view flipping books.
