Citizens Eco Drive Watch Instructions
Unlike traditional watches, the Eco Drive watch never needs a battery. (Watch image by Aqeel Ahmed from Fotolia.com)

The Citizen Watch Co. says its Eco Drive watches are unstoppable. Advertising hyperbole aside, the Eco Drive watch may indeed last you a lifetime, but only if you take proper care of it. One feature that sets the Eco Drive apart from many other watches is that it does not need a battery; the watch automatically recharges when it is exposed to light.

Instructions

    Watch With a Calendar

  1. 1

Turn the watch so that the face is pointed toward you. Find the screw-down crown on the right side of the watch; this is tool you will use to set your watch.

  2. 2

Pull the crown out two steps to the time-setting position. Rotate the crown slowly clockwise until you see the date change; this sets the date to change at midnight each night.

  3. 3

Continue to turn the crown until you have set the current time. Push the crown down to its one-step position.

  4. 4

Rotate the crown counterclockwise to adjust the date; if your watch features a day marker, rotate the crown clockwise to change the day.

  5. 5

Push the crown back into place to close it.

Tips and warnings

  • Different Eco Drive models have different features and capabilities. If you have questions regarding your specific watch, consult the company's website, where you can type in your product's code and receive specific instructions.
  • The watch automatically charges itself whenever it is exposed to light. A fully charged Eco Drive watch can run for up to six months without a new charge. It is impossible to overcharge your Eco Drive watch.
  • Protect your watch from temperature extremes and strong magnetic fields.
  • Don't store your Eco Drive watch in a dark place; the watch needs light to recharge. If the watch is stored in a dark location for more than six months, it may be permanently damaged.
  • Never pull the crown out of the watch while the watch is wet, or you risk water damage to the inner workings.
